Horton industrial handles your marine abrasive blasting and coating projects from start to finish. We provide maintenance coatings and blasting on fishing vessels, fairies, tug’s, and barges. Whether you have a tank to waterproof or would like to re-coat the entire exterior hull, we have the experience and equipment to handle your project.
We are very familiar with working in the shipyards. And we understand the time crunches involved in drydock work. In the past we’ve worked swing shifts so that the welders have time to do their work during the day and we will blast and paint throughout the night. In order to keep these projects on schedule we understand that flexibility in our schedule and hours worked is absolutely key.
When it comes doing abrasive blasting on your ship Horton industrial is absolutely up for the task. We have top-of-the-line equipment for marine sandblasting. This includes many blast pots, air compressors, thousands of feet of blasting hose, vacuum systems, dust collection systems, and all safety equipment.
When it comes to re-coating your ship, we know what it takes. Many contractors in the marine industry do a sloppy job. We are the opposite, we only allow for the highest quality coating application with our work. It is extremely important for coatings to be applied by the book. We have seen what happens when other contractors wait too long to apply the topcoat, apply paint over a contaminated surface, or apply too much or too little of a wet film thickness. These situations almost always result in coating failure and end up having to start all over.
We know there are many companies in Seattle that perform marine coatings. Many are very good. There are also a lot of very bad ones around. The thing that sets us apart from all the other companies is our deck coating system. This system basically corrosion proof’s your deck. We apply over 100 mils of epoxy coatings to your deck. This is very popular in the fishing industry because there is often sea water inside the processing factories. Please see our pictures for details. We first apply an abrasion resistant epoxy primer, then we apply an epoxy underlayment that contains no VOC’s. We then apply an epoxy tankliner that resists the corrosive fish oil and other chemicals that normally can cause coating failure.
